My Story
"I am unstoppable."
Six months ago, I finished 22nd at the Paris Olympic Marathon and now, it’s a one-way tocket to Los Angeles and Brisbane.
Then, I get a phone call.
Running is my life.
I got into running at 17, after playing soccer all my life. After more than a decade, I reached the highest level: the Olympic Games. The Paris Olympics was everything I dreamed of. At 29 I was still young for a marathon runner, and I dreamt of cementing my name into Belgian sports history. But six months later, during a routine check-up, I was diagnosed with a heart condition forcing me to retire from professional sports.
I lost everything.
The dream shattered, I was left with heartbreak but still in love with the sport. Running had given me so much joy and purpose, and I have become so much more confident in my abilities. This sport has changed me forever, and I am grateful for that, even though my story in elite running ended way too soon.
Runners inspire me.
I am thrilled to see that so many people have found running as a way to challenge themselves. I am amazed by those who work hard to become better athletes, as well as better people. In many ways, running teaches us that we reap what we sow, and I’ve learned firsthand that to become a better runner, you need to be kind to yourself, as this sport is so tough. But I have also seen many people who get into running with no real plan, struggling to get better.
So I want to help you.
My experience competing at the highest level can teach you the ingredients for sustainable performance. Because when you want true progress, you don’t ask an app, or a friend who has finished a 5K a few years ago. You ask an expert. As someone who has seen it all, I help you to keep getting better at the toughest sport in the world!
